Just last month the Worldwide Marriage Encounter certified Wilbur and Theresa Faiss from Las Vegas as the Longest Married Couple in the U.S. As of February 11, 2012, the couple has been married for 78 years. The WWME is known as the original faith-based marriage enrichment program in the United States. The organization had over 250 nominations from 47 states for this project. When asked by CNN what they key to a successful marriage was, Wilbur answered: “It’s very simple; it’s give and take and compromise. You’re in love and that’s all you think about.” They must be doing something right because they’ve lasted more than seven decades and got married in a place that’s not exactly synonymous with lasting marriages.
